Everyday challenges

What makes shift planning hard in your sector.

Lines to staff

A shift without the right people means a stopped line and lost production.

Machine skills

Not everyone can run every machine: coverage has to be planned by skill, not just by headcount.

Rest and overtime

Between rotations and replacements it is easy to exceed legal limits without noticing.

Tension over nights

Who works the most nights and weekends is the first source of friction with staff and unions.

Guaranteed coverage

Every shift in every department covered with the minimum number of people you set.

Skills per shift

Each shift can require specific skills, such as operating a given machine, and a minimum number of experienced people.

Rest periods and working-time law

Minimum rest between shifts, a cap on consecutive working days and contract hours are respected by design, configured on the rules of your labour law and collective agreement.

Shift sequences

Forbid the sequences you don’t want, such as Night → Morning, and cap consecutive shifts of the same type.

Fair nights, weekends and holidays

The heaviest shifts are shared out with the same criterion for everyone, taking previous months into account too: no favouritism, no back-room deals.

Sudden absences

A last-minute sick call? Oravis proposes the replacement that changes the fewest shifts, without touching anyone already on duty. You confirm.

Verified shift swaps

Colleagues propose swaps to each other in Oravis; every swap is checked against rest periods and constraints before it is approved.

Hour bank

Each person's hour credit and debit is calculated at month end and carried over automatically to the next month.

Shadowing for new hires

Trainees follow their mentor’s shifts without being counted towards minimum coverage.
Example

A three-shift plant

Two production lines running day and night, seventy operators, each line with at least one qualified operator per shift.

  • Every line always has its qualified operator
  • Never a Night followed by a Morning
  • Nights are shared with the same criterion for everyone
  • New hires train alongside their mentor
Early Adopter Program

Let’s build it together

Your sector has specific needs. With the first partners in each sector we design and build the missing features around their real needs.

  • Fixed crew rotations (A/B/C/D) as a starting template
  • Licence and training expiry dates that block assignment
  • Connection to time clocks and payroll software

Join the Early Adopter Program: priority access to new releases, features built around your needs and better terms.

What happens if someone is absent at the last minute?

Oravis finds the shifts left uncovered and proposes the solution that changes the fewest shifts, preferring changes on days further away and without touching anyone already on duty. You can decide the maximum number of changes you accept. The proposal is applied only when you confirm it.

How do you ensure compliance with the law and the collective agreement?

Oravis automatically applies the working-time limits you configure from your labour law and collective agreement: minimum rest between shifts (for example the 11 consecutive hours required by the EU Working Time Directive), the maximum number of consecutive working days, each person's contract hours and the rules on shift sequences, such as never going from a night straight into a morning. Every generated schedule is compliant by design.

Where is the data hosted?

On servers in Italy, within the EU, and it is processed in compliance with the GDPR. Each organization has its own dedicated instance, separate from other customers. On request, Oravis can also be installed on your own servers (on-premise).

Does Oravis integrate with payroll and time clocks?

Today you can export the schedule to Excel, PDF and iCal. Export to the main payroll software and connection to time and attendance systems are on the roadmap: if you need them, get in touch and we will design them together around your needs.
