Scheduling for hospitals and clinics
24/7 wards, experienced staff always on shift, nights shared out fairly: the ward roster, generated automatically.
Everyday challenges
What makes shift planning hard in your sector.
Complex wards
Dozens of staff, several shift types and different skills: building the roster by hand is a puzzle.
Experienced staff on every shift
Every shift needs at least one experienced professional, and new hires need someone to shadow.
Fatigue and turnover
Badly distributed nights and skipped rest wear staff out and push them to leave.
Last-minute surprises
A sick call the night before gets solved with a flurry of calls and messages, often leaving everyone unhappy.
A 45-person medical ward
Nurses and care assistants on three shifts, at least one experienced nurse per shift, two new hires shadowing and a coordinator who also covers the next ward.
- Every shift always has its experienced professional
- New hires follow their mentor’s shifts
- The coordinator’s leave applies to the neighbouring ward too
- Nights are shared fairly, previous months included
Let’s build it together
Your sector has specific needs. With the first partners in each sector we design and build the missing features around their real needs.
- On-call rota management
- Hours export to your payroll software
- Connection to your time and attendance system

Oravis finds the shifts left uncovered and proposes the solution that changes the fewest shifts, preferring changes on days further away and without touching anyone already on duty. You can decide the maximum number of changes you accept. The proposal is applied only when you confirm it.
How do you ensure compliance with the law and the collective agreement?
Oravis automatically applies the working-time limits you configure from your labour law and collective agreement: minimum rest between shifts (for example the 11 consecutive hours required by the EU Working Time Directive), the maximum number of consecutive working days, each person's contract hours and the rules on shift sequences, such as never going from a night straight into a morning. Every generated schedule is compliant by design.
Where is the data hosted?
On servers in Italy, within the EU, and it is processed in compliance with the GDPR. Each organization has its own dedicated instance, separate from other customers. On request, Oravis can also be installed on your own servers (on-premise).
Does Oravis integrate with payroll and time clocks?
Today you can export the schedule to Excel, PDF and iCal. Export to the main payroll software and connection to time and attendance systems are on the roadmap: if you need them, get in touch and we will design them together around your needs.
